Family Harmony

Congregation (CHF)

The Congregation of the Holy Family (CHF) was founded by Saint Mariam Thresia in 1914 in Puthenchira, Thrissur, Kerala, with the mission of imparting Christian values to families. Recognized as a Pontifical Congregation of the Syro-Malabar Church in 1978, CHF is dedicated to strengthening families through compassionate love and service.

Patroness of Families

Saint Mariam Thresia was born to Thoma and Thanda in a renowned Catholic family, Chiramel Mankidiyan, on 26 April 1876 at Puthenchira, Thrissur, Kerala, India. From her childhood she had an admirable orientation towards God and interior life. She consecrated herself totally to God when she was three or four years old. In her early age she chose Jesus as her spiritual spouse, the Blessed Virgin Mother as her mother and Saint Joseph as her father.

Fr. Joseph Vithayathil

Father Joseph Vithayathil Spiritual Father of Mariam Thresia has played a unique and decisive role in the life of Saint Mariam Thresia and in the early years of the Congregation of the Holy Family so as to merit the title of co-founder. Much of the evidence concerning the life and sanctity of Saint Mariam Thresia is drawn from his writings.

Society for Family Harmony

The Society for Family Harmony, based at Santhitheeram, North Paravur, Kochi, is a registered non-profit organization under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific & Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955. Inspired by the charism of Saint Mariam Thresia, the society aims to promote family well-being through counselling services, awareness programs, and community development initiatives. With a dedicated team of six laypeople and seven Holy Family Sisters, the society offers programs tailored to the needs of teachers, students, parents, children, and youth. Key initiatives include counselling, personality development, family retreats, and support for vulnerable women and orphans through the Joice Joseph Rescue Home.

To establish counseling centers for family enrichment through training in relationships, parenting, communication, and personal development.
To provide shelter and support for distressed families, women, and children to overcome emotional and mental struggles.
To conduct psycho-social training for trainers and leaders in government and public sectors.
To set up care centers for widows to engage them in purposeful activities for societal benefit.
To start rehabilitation centers for poor, abused, or abandoned women, children, and other needy individuals.
To establish de-addiction centers to help individuals recover from harmful habits and restore family harmony.
To initiate and support literary, scientific, and humanitarian projects for cultural, social, and economic upliftment.
